Challenge
As one of its services, CPC manages a fleet of flatbed units that comprise the private fleet of the National Gypsum Company. National Gypsum requires that all of its carriers forward POD’s to their FTP site so it can provide near-real time delivery information to its customers. At the time of engagement, CPC had no automated capability of accomplishing this requirement. CPC demanded a solution that could support a high transaction volume, integrate with its current transportation management system, TMW Suite, and easy to maintain. This was when CPC turned to EBE Technologies.
Solution
After reviewing several alternatives, EBE’s SHIPS integrated process management solution was selected for its strong reputation in the industry of providing value based, reliable systems and unparalleled customer service and support. With SHIPS and its immediate document exchange (IDE) capability, the proof of delivery documents are scanned and SHIPS then converts them to PDF files. The system then transports these files over the internet to an FTP site where they are easily accessible to customers directly from the National Gypsum website through their customer login. SHIPS handles hundreds of documents per week with little operator intervention.
Results
CPC has extended this solution to other customers and is now able to scan and process thousands of documents automatically within minutes for customers to access the required information on the carriers’ websites. The implementation of SHIPS has delivered to CPC improved accuracy of information, reduced costs, improved cash flow and increased customer satisfaction.
Future
CPC is seeking to automate more of its processes in other functional areas throughout its enterprise. Driver recruiting is the next area of focus that CPC will look to EBE to automate with its SHIPS paperless recruiting solution.
