EBE TECHNOLOGIES FIRST USER CONFERENCE
Practical Strategies to Address Rising Fuel Costs and Technology Solutions to Improve Profitability Drive Conference Agenda
East Moline, IL – EBE Technologies, the leading developer of enterprise business process management software for the transportation industry, hosted its first annual User Conference and Vendor Exhibition in Oak Brook, IL August 24th- 27th. The conference, themed “Driving Action, Delivering Results”, was deemed a success as attendees participated in more than 20 educational sessions focused on industry topics and technology solutions to meet the challenges of today’s trucking environment.
Keynote speaker, Bob Costello, Chief Economist for the American Trucking Association, spoke on diesel fuel prices and practical strategies for motor carriers. His message focused on the many reasons the price of crude oil has surged, the annual diesel expense, consumption within the trucking industry and strategies to conserve fuel while boosting MPG, reducing idling, and driver variability. “Because there is no one reason for the cause of rising fuel prices, there is no one magic bullet to correct the problem, “said Costello. “While we are currently experiencing a decrease in fuel costs, we will most likely never go back to the prices of even a year ago. It’s not the increase in cost that has affected the industry so dramatically, but it is the rate at which prices increased- not giving carriers the ability to respond,” Costello added.
Larry Kerr, President of EBE, welcomed the group in his opening comments sharing with them a historic timeline of the organization and outlining EBE’s future strategies and product roadmap. The remainder of the conference included breakout and general sessions presented by EBE staff, industry leaders such as TMW Systems, Qualcomm, and PeopleNet and EBE customers. Packard Logistics, DistTech and Modern Transportation presented case studies detailing their business growth through EBE’s process management software.
“This has been a very positive year for EBE and the User Conference was additional confirmation that we are meeting the needs of our customers. As we grow and service more than 300 transportation companies, it becomes increasingly important that we provide a forum for education, networking and communication. With the many new solutions we have added to our portfolio, we felt this was the year to launch such an event. We were pleased with the turnout from our customers and participation from our partners who supported the vendor exhibit hall. Based on the feedback from all who attended and the success of this year’s event, we expect next year’s to be even bigger and better” said Cindy Nelson, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development.
Regina Garrabrant, CFO for Western Dairy Transport commented, “EBE’s first User Conference was an absolute success! I felt the classes provided us the opportunity to expand our knowledge of the systems we currently have in place and introduce us to the new EBE platform as well as other EBE solutions. The group size allowed for networking and interaction with both vendors and EBE staff without feeling rushed or pressured. And, the facility and grounds were exceptional- you could not ask for a better location to host the conference. Congratulations to the EBE staff for all the attention to detail that made this conference a success.”
